Tashkent City

Uzbek food resembles ours quite closely. Its two most famous dishes are Uzbek mantı and pilaf. The mantı is a little like Chinese dumplings, and beyond meat there are fish and vegetable versions.

Afsona means 'legend'. It has two branches in Tashkent. The one on Tashkent City square, the city's centre of gravity, is very good on both food and service.

Beyond mantı and pilaf, the menu includes çiğ börek, perde pilavı and various meat dishes. Prices are dirt cheap compared with Turkey — a meat main is around 200 TL.

Afsona is a good option for experiencing Uzbek cooking.
