Zekeriya Sofrasi,Datça

Staying the course with home cooking isn't easy. Zekeriya Sofrası in central Datça, serving since 1996, is in our view one of the best in Turkey. They use extra virgin olive oil or village butter in everything, with no additives at all. Beyond the classic home dishes you can find echoes of Ottoman cooking.

Of what we tried, the iç pilav with liver and almonds was magnificent, and the stuffed courgette flowers, the chard borani with meat and chickpeas and the homemade baklava were all lovely.
