Adana Ocakbaşı
Serving since 1978, Kurtuluş Adana Ocakbaşı has for years been in our eyes one of the best ocakbaşı restaurants in Istanbul.
The room is small and rough around the edges, but the cooking is high-level. Alongside the neighbourhood regulars there are plenty of visitors, Turkish and foreign; in the evenings you need to book ahead.
On our last visit the Adana kebab, the vegetable kebab, the liver, the sweetbreads, the ribs and the chops were all excellent.
Having opened a Yeşilköy branch and with Suadiye on the way, we hope Adana Ocakbaşı manages to keep the line it hasn't broken in all these years.
