Meyhane by Marcel has opened in Yeniköy on the site of the old Marcel patisserie. It's the second place the owners of Azur have opened in the area.

The menu is accomplished and the food is tasty. Beyond the classic meze, the honeyed saganaki, the şevket-i bostan and the offal options are good.

There's live fasıl music at weekends, though they could lift the tempo a little in their choice of repertoire.

Despite the accomplished kitchen, the service needs to reach a better place. There's a coolness about the room we couldn't quite name. It wasn't especially busy either, even though we went on a Saturday evening.
