Αριστον

Ariston is a bakery that has been serving since 1910, right beside Athens' famous Syntagma Square. Thanks to the queue that never quite disappears, a short wait gets you products that are constantly coming out fresh.
The savoury pastries are very good, in varieties including cheese, spinach, courgette, chicken and meat. A slice of the cheese one — more than enough for one person — is €1.70.
We didn't try them, but the sweets at Ariston looked very good too. For a quick, well-priced but very tasty bite in Athens, drop in at Ariston.
